March: A Letter to My Present Self (Embracing the Now)
A reminder to slow down, breathe, and trust that this moment is enough.
Dear Me,
You never thought you’d be here, did you? If you had told your younger self that this is where life would take you—this version of you, in this moment, with all that you’ve carried and all that you’ve built—she wouldn’t have believed it.
There were times you thought you wouldn’t make it this far. Times when the weight of everything felt too much to bear. You spent years fighting battles no one saw, carrying responsibilities that should have been shared, learning how to survive when life kept throwing you into the deep end. You fought to keep going, not just for yourself, but for the two boys who look up to you with eyes full of trust. You didn’t always know how you’d do it, but somehow, you did. And somehow, you still are.
You don’t give yourself enough credit for that.
You’ve spent so much of your life looking ahead, planning the next move, fixing, adjusting, preparing for what could go wrong. You’ve lived in survival mode for so long that stillness feels unfamiliar—almost uncomfortable. But look at where you are now. No, life isn’t perfect. There are still struggles, still worries, still uncertainties. But this moment, right here, is one you never thought you’d get to see.
Think of all the versions of you who fought to get here. The younger you, who had to grow up too soon, who didn’t always feel safe in the world. The version of you who became a mother before she even knew who she was, who learned how to love so deeply it terrified her. The version of you who tried love again, only to learn that not everyone who says they care will handle your heart with care. The version of you who cried in secret, who carried exhaustion in her bones, who still showed up every single day for her children.
And now, look at you.
The mother who is still standing, still giving, still learning how to love herself as much as she loves the people around her. The woman who no longer lets pain define her, who is realising that she is allowed to feel peace, too.
I know you don’t always trust that you’re on the right path. But what if I told you that you are? That even the quiet moments—the ones where nothing extraordinary seems to be happening—are part of the story? That even when it feels like nothing is changing, you are changing?
Look around. Life is still happening in the smallest ways. In the laughter of your youngest, the way he pulls you into his world so effortlessly. In the quiet resilience of your eldest, the way he teaches you things you never expected to learn. In the simple joy of a warm drink in your hands, the way the sunlight lands just right on an ordinary afternoon.
These are the moments you once prayed for. The ones that seemed impossible.
So here’s what I want you to remember this March:
• You don’t have to have everything figured out to be at peace.
• You are allowed to exist in this moment without rushing to the next.
• Your life is not on hold—this, right now, is part of it.
Breathe. Be here. You are exactly where you need to be.
With love,
Me
Your Turn to Reflect:
This month, take a moment to ground yourself in the present.
• What is one thing you can appreciate about this moment in your life?
• What are you rushing toward, and what would happen if you allowed yourself to slow down?
• How can you practice being more present in your everyday routine?
Write it down, sit with it, or simply remind yourself throughout the day: This moment is enough.

The resources to explore section is an awesome addition Salwa. You keep getting better 👊🏻
Great article Salwa. It is interesting how we can look after another and have a path for which we do not know, while also retracing our own path that brought us to where we are now
